WordPress Nexus

January 19, 2009

There has been an explosion of WordPress blogs and other resources over the past few months, which has sometimes made finding the WordPress resource you are looking for fairly difficult.   In an effort to help people find what they are looking for, we recently launched WordPress Nexus.

WordPress Nexus is a WordPress directory which aims provide a directory to all the major WordPress resources.  Here is some additional information:

Why Should I Submit my Resource to WordPress Nexus?

If you’re wondering why you should submit your WordPress blog, forum, business website, etc. to the WordPress Nexus directory, here are a few reasons:

  • Make Your WordPress Resource More Findable – The way the website is setup, it will receive a lot of targeted traffic.  This means people will come looking for something specific.   Having your link included will get more of this targeted traffic over to your website over time.
  • Quality Inbound Link – Though the site is new right now, over time WordPress Nexus will likely gain a high Google PageRank, making for a quality inbound link to your WordPress resource.

What Type of Resources is WordPress Nexus Looking For?

If you are wondering if your blog or WordPress-related website qualifies to be included in the WordPress Nexus directory, here is what we are looking for:

  • WordPress Blogs – Do you run a niche blog that covers WordPress?  If your blog is dedicated to covering WordPress, or primarily devoted to covering WordPress, you’ll want to submit your blog in this category.
  • WordPress Designers – Do you offer custom WordPress design or custom coding services?  If you are looking for work, you’ll want to make sure your blog is listed in this category.
  • WordPress Forums – Have a WordPress-related forum?  If so, you’ll want to submit your forum to this category.
  • WordPress Resources – Have a WordPress resource that isn’t a blog?   You can submit your resource to this category.
  • WordPress Social Networks – Have a WordPress voting site or some other type of social website?  You can submit your site to this category.
  • WordPress Themes – Are you a WordPress theme author?   You’ll want to list your business website or blog in this category.   It includes a separate section for people offering free themes and people offering premium WordPress themes.

Any other questions about WordPress Nexus?  Feel free to ask them in the comments.  Otherwise go submit your link!

WordPress Forums

January 13, 2009

When WordPress Hacks was launched well over a year ago, we had no idea that it would grow the way it has. At last check, the blog has almost 500 posts, focused mostly on free WordPress themes, premium WordPress themes, WordPress plugins, WordPress hacks, and a collection of WordPress code.    Each day the site receives as high as 13,000 unique visits on good days and boasts over 3100 readers!

As you can see, the WordPress community has been very good to us and our passion for WordPress runs as high as it ever has.   It was with that in mind that we launched the new WordPress forums.

As of launch, here are the forums we already have available:

  • WordPress Discussions – Here we have forums setup to discuss WordPress News, beta releases and release candidates.
  • WordPress Support – I often get support questions on old posts in our archives and find it difficult to keep up.   Now people can post their questions in the appropriate forum here and solicit input from the WordPress community!   When you ask a question, the post is moved to the top, making it easier and much quicker to get feedback from other WPForums.com users!   Current forums include getting setup on WordPress, troubleshooting WordPress, WordPress hacks and tutorials, and a discussion of other WordPress resources.
  • WordPress Themes – Here we’ve got a separate forum for sharing and discussing free WordPress themes, premium WordPress themes, and we even have a forum dedicated to showcasing your WordPress theme.  I can see these forums being a good way for theme authors to get more exposure for their theme releases as well.
  • WordPress Plugins – Like the themes, we wanted a place where people can discuss both free and premium WordPress plugins.   You can promote your plugin or publish a review of an existing plugin.
  • WordPress Employment – Whether you are looking to hire someone for some WordPress-related work (coding/design) or you are looking for work, we’ve got you both covered.   The WordPress Employment section is designed to bring buyers together with sellers.  One forum allows freelancers to post their resumes.   The other forum is a great place for people to post what they need and get connected to someone that can do help.

So, have at it!  Check out the unofficial WordPress forums!

WordPress Hacks

June 6, 2008

The first and probably most notable blog within the Apricot Media network is the popular WordPress blog WordPress Hacks, which has really developed a strong following within the WordPress community.

Hack WordPress was originally launched on October 1, 2007, as a way place to discuss WordPress ideas and provide resources for the WordPress community.   In addition to the WordPress hacks that the site was named for, you will also find a large variety of reference lists ranging from the extremely popular WordPress Theme Galleries (including Premium WordPress Themes), the top WordPress Plugins list, and of course the collection of WordPress Code.

If you haven’t already, we recommend you subscribe to WordPress Hacks or get email updates automatically sent to your inbox.
